Location

Strategically located by the town square, the library is part of a larger urban development project, creating opportunities for social interaction. Large glass panels and a thoughtfully designed interior with colored curtains provide a sense of openness and light. In the evening, the library shines like a colorful lantern, enhancing the townscape.

Program & Activities

Beyond traditional library services, the space offers a wide range of activities, including film screenings, storytime sessions, knitting cafés, and lectures. The library functions as a meeting place where people form new connections, and residents of the senior living facility above the library use it as an extension of their home.

Design concept

The architects behind the project have strived to create a space where everyone feels welcome. The combination of functional design, lighting, and color schemes has resulted in a harmonious environment where the indoors and outdoors blend seamlessly.

The reuse of furniture from the old library has been extensive. Items were measured and categorized to facilitate renovation, repainting, and placement in the new premises.

Children's pavilion proposal

Through this initiative, Svenstavik has gained not only a modern and inspiring library but also a place that strengthens community ties and contributes to the development of the town.
