THE SITE

Originally constructed as a mid-century office building, the structure reflects the rational and utilitarian architecture of its time. Its position offers strong visibility, access to public transport, and proximity to local amenities — making it a strategic location for renewal. The site’s urban potential lies in its ability to accommodate an extension of existing layers while contributing to the evolving character of Sollentuna’s built environment.

THE DESIGN CONCEPT

At the core of the design concept is the vertical expansion of the building with two additional floors, carefully integrated to respect the existing architectural identity while strengthening its presence in the urban fabric. The design introduces a unified entrance to replace fragmented access points, integrated signage that enhances visibility without overpowering the original structure.

INTERIOR

The exterior transformation balances heritage sensitivity with contemporary clarity, ensuring the building integrates seamlessly into its urban context. The rooftop is transformed into a multi-functional, layered environment.

A partially  public rooftop terrace offers panoramic views over Sollentuna, becoming a valuable social space for informal meetings, outdoor work, and community gatherings, enhancing the building’s social sustainability. Carefully designed wind-protected zones, integrated planters, and flexible seating create a comfortable microclimate while promoting biodiversity and seasonal variation.

The remaining rooftop area is dedicated to solar panels, ensuring the building actively contributes to its sustainability goals while integrating clean energy generation into the architecture without visual clutter. The rooftop becomes an extension of the workplace and supports building’s commitment to climate action and well-being.
