Ejdern

A playful interpretation of the small scale neighborhood villa, celebrating both individuality and community. Warm timber detailing and the diversified living volumes create a complex that is experienced at a human-scale. The building forms complement the small-scale language of the neighbouring villas.

The Site

13 new homes in Norrviken, Sollentuna, consisting of 10 apartments, 1 duplex house and 1 Attefall house. The buildings are situated along the route Norrvikenleden and the adjacent commuter railway. The settlement is in close proximity to wildlife, just a short walk from the lake Norrviken, whose opposite shore is home to Södra Törnskogens nature reserve.

Our vision

The houses are an addition to a popular residential neighborhood consisting of villas and small scale building. We wanted to express each residence individually through the design of the gabled roofs and facade framing details. The studio apartments and the duplex house offer a variety to the typologies in the neighborhood and will allow for younger people and students to reside in the area.

Interior & Exterior

The houses are constructed of aerated concrete blocks. There is an emphasis on the long social facades, with roofs and ends of the buildings clad with grey plaster and concrete tiles, while the front and back enjoy a warm wooden facade.
